About Mount Barker Cricket Club
Past
Mt Barker Cricket Club was officially formed in 1872 at the instigation of a local lawyer, Louis von Doussa. It was to be established in 1886 and has had much success throughout the years. In 1922-3 Mt Barker joined the newly-formed Hills Cricket Association (HCA). Mt Barker went on to win five premierships in a row between 1926-7 and 1931-2. In 1931-32 the Eastern Hills CA had formed and Mt Barker entered a B team in the competition for three seasons. In 1934-5 Mt Barker withdrew from the HCA and EHCA and formed its own association, the Mt Barker District Cricket Association (MtBDCA). Initially there were only four teams – three from Mt Barker (Blues, Whites and Methodists), and Wistow. In 1970-71 the Reds, Whites and Blues no longer existed as separate entities and Mt Barker was just one club again. In 1983-4 Mt Barker joined the Alexandra & Eastern Hills Cricket Association and has won 4 Premierships to date.
Present
Currently the MBCC is on the brink of some exciting changes. Due to the growth and expansion of our town great opportunity awaits for a club such as ours. With the expected increase in population over the next ten to fifteen years we are in a position to expand and develop our club so that it is one of the leading and most sort after clubs in the Adelaide Hills. As it sits in 2016-17 we offer cricketing opportunities for all ages from 5 years of age up until and including seniors. Currently the club is involved in Milo In2 Cricket, Milo T20 Blast, U10's, U12's, U14's, U16's, C Grade and A2's and is always wishing to expand.
